General Questions
Where is the product from?
On each item page, you will find the country of origin. Being that we specialize in high quality contemporary furniture and modern furniture you will find most of our furniture is made in North America, Italy and Norway (over 90% of what you will find on EuroFurniture.com is made in Europe or North America). However, there are very few exceptions to that rule. If the quality of a given product exceeds what we deem acceptable (and we have very high standards, as do our clients), we will offer that product, even though it is not made in the North America or Italy. One such exception is BDI. The quality is at a level that is comparable to similar product coming out of Italy or the US, which is why we offer BDI as part of our collection of furniture. Should you have any questions about where our furniture is made, please feel free to contact us at 800.243.1955 and we will be happy to speak with you.
Who is it made by?
On each item page, you will find the manufacturer of that specific item. We sell modern and contemporary furniture and accessories by American Leather, BDI, Bontempi, Calligaris, Casamania, Cattelan Italia, Colico, Copeland Furniture, DellaRobbia, Elite Leather Company, Fjords by Hjellegjerde, Focus One Home, Gamma Arredamenti, Huppe, Kartell, Kristalia, Lafer, La Palma, Matrix, Midj, Pedrali, Sicea, Sitland, Softline and Vittoro Marchetti.
Is every item in stock?
We offer many items from our modern furniture and contemporary furniture collections from our inventory that we maintain at our 70,000 sq.ft. facility in Chicago. However, it is impossible to stock all items in all finishes. We do maintain inventory levels of the most popular products in the most popular finishes. On a specific item page you will see an item listed (click the color/finish swatch and lead time will apprear) as In Stock, Back ordered, or Special order. "In Stock" orders ship immediately, and are delivered in 7-10 days. Back Ordered and Special Order are delivered according to the lead time listed. If your order is "time sensitive" we suggest calling 800.243.1955 to ensure a product is in stock.
Are your modern classics the original?
The originals of most of this category are in the Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. When one asks "is that an original modern classic?" what should really be asked is "is that a licensed reproduction?" What is commonly referred to as an "original" is really a licensed reproduction. This means that a manufacturer had paid a licensing fee and now has the right to sell that item as a "licensed reproduction." This is what one would find at Herman Miller or Knoll International.
EuroFurniture specializes in unlicensed reproductions made in Italy to the original specifications. What does all that really mean? Well, while there is usually only one source for a "licensed" reproduction, there are many sources and levels of quality of "unlicensed" reproductions (including manufacturers from Italy, China, South America, etc.). So, one must be diligent when shopping for unlicensed reproductions as there are many out there of inferior quality, materials, and sometimes not even the correct dimensions!
The Modern Classics (aka Mid 20th Century Classics) that EuroFurniture offers are 100% made in Italy. Our Modern Classics are of a quality that is comparable to any licensed reproduction. So what is the difference? The big difference is that there is no "stamp" on the item. Many licensed reproductions will carry a "stamp" (on the bottom of a seat, of the table top...) indicating that an item is indeed a licensed reproduction. You will not find any "stamps" at EuroFurniture, but you will find significant savings over the licensed items.....and in the majority of cases, there is no difference at all other than not having a stamp!
If you have any further questions regarding a specific Modern Classic, or Modern Classics in general, feel free to contact EuroFurniture at 800.243.1955. If you would like, you can ask for Chris (the import buyer and e-commerce manager).
Are the various furniture items available in different colors, or with additional features?
Occasionally we cannot list the many colors a product may be available in, or additional features it may have. If you have questions about an item, please call us at 800.243.1955 and we'll be happy to answer them!
