Richard Racana, Jr., Managing Partner of EFI, has always been a strong believer in value. After all, the value of a dollar has built EFI from humble beginnings to the success it is today. Family values are important, in fact many of the EFI staff shares the Racana name. Richard knows that a valued customer is the company's greatest asset, keeping them in business for all these years. And finally, the value of fine furniture. Richard still has the Barcelona chairs he bought in the 1960's in his living room, and comes to work every morning to see brand new ones from Italy that mirror their good looks.

What began as his fathers humble domestic furniture business in the 1940's evolved into European Furniture Importers over 30 years ago, when Richard began importing home and contract furnishings from Italy for many of America's leading furniture retailers, department store chains, catalog houses and architectural design firms. He learned about the "Modern Classics", Italian leathers, interesting accessories, and beautiful prints. This knowledge became EFI's foundation, and has been passed on to every member of the staff.

Now a growing business, EFI keeps the same small business values learned from the start. No customer is a number, and none has been treated that way. Middlemen are not a part of the process. All the furniture sold is personally selected -and the Racana's have so much fun on their family buying trips -why involve a distributor? For the past 20 years, an office has been maintained in Florence, and close contact is kept through this website and e-mail. This allows close supervision of production and shipping, making it easier to fill your special orders. EFI's high quality products are available to you at such attractive prices for two main reasons. First, the family has over 25 years experience purchasing in Italy. They have developed a savvy ability to stay ahead of the current exchange rates, increasing their own purchasing power. Second, EFI specializes in Italian products, and because they are shipped direct (that is, from Italy to the EFI warehouse to you), prices stay lower, promising you a better value on valuable merchandise. Through satisfaction and repeat business, customers have proven that EFI is doing things right. Richard values what he has learned through the years, for the business and for the customers.

One final note regarding EFI's products. EFI does indeed carry Modern Classic inspired pieces. Made to the designers original specifications, the furniture is painstakingly crafted in Italy using full grain aniline hides and triple chrome plated steel. The pieces, however, are in no way affiliated with or manufactured by Knoll, Charles and Ray Eames, Herman Miller, Vitra or Fritz Hansen.
